The QUAXAR Data Center opens for business, with more than 100 employees.
Coatzacoalcos,
Veracruz. April 12, 2004 – Today, QUAXAR Mexico began operations in the QUAXAR Data Center in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. The Data Center will provide development and execution of support services for business processes such as data entry,
digitization, software development and data processing for QUAXAR's clients in Mexico, Latin America and the United States.
The QUAXAR Data Center has multiple workstations
that allow the more than 100 employees
to work on a variety of tasks involving
the use of information technology to solve
business problems for their clients.
“The QUAXAR Data Center in Coatzacoalcos
allows us to offer the highest quality
at the best cost for these services, particularly
in software development, digitization
and data entry”, says Leonel Azuela,
originally from Coatzacoalcos, and Managing
Director of QUAXAR. In the event that
certain projects or documents require
digitization in Mexico City, for security
reasons, we can also provide that service.
Unfortunately, the cost is approximately
double the cost for data entry in our
Veracruz Data Center. There are few cases
where this applies, however, and in general
5% is the maximum amount of information
or development that needs to be dealt
with at our clients' offices.
At QUAXAR
we currently have a team of between 35
and 50 people in Mexico City, working
on projects dedicated to inventory management
and data recovery. We commonly have our
Mexico City teams working at our clients'
offices, given that our clients generally
have this information in archives located
within the metropolitan Mexico City area.
Once the
data inventory has been classified, cleaned
and recovered, the process moves to data/information
management, which may be digital or non-digital.
In the case of non-digital data, digitization
takes place of only that information that
needs to be held in digital format. Digitization
takes place in Coatzacoalcos, and we have
a logistics and transport system in place
to guarantee the most efficient data entry
process, always maintaining the security
and integrity of the information.
QUAXAR and MicroBanx to offer the COBIS solution to
private and public microfinancing companies in Mexico
and the United States.
In July 2004, QUAXAR, in conjunction with MicroBanx,
began to offer the COBIS solution (Cooperative Open
Banking Information System) to microfinancing clients
who require software for the management of their financial
activities. The two companies will offer a complete
package of consulting services, technology integration
and software to manage credit origination and management.
QUAXAR's team, with experience in consulting services
and training at multiple microfinancing institutions
in Mexico, will expand its services beyond its consulting
services in best technology practices. After exhaustive
research into software solutions for microfinancing
companies, QUAXAR found COBIS to be the ideal product
due to its functionality, technology and history.
COBIS has been implemented in more than 70 projects
in 13 countries in the Americas, and is widely recognized
as the most effective tool for microfinanciers. Javier
Ballesteros, Director of QUAXAR's microfinancing practice
says “MicroBanx allows us to offer a complete
solution to our clients, using the best software application
in the market”. Bill Moss, Managing Director
of MicroBanx agrees that “with QUAXAR we will
guarantee the expansion and successful implementation
of our application in Mexico and United States”.
Implementation of the SIMMER is concluded
at over 80
CFE generating plants.
The
need to modernize CFE operations using
information technology motivated the Generation
Division to develop a software application
to monitor and measure electricity generation
in its generation plants.
During
2001, the SIMMER, or System for Monitoring
and Measurement of Regional Energy, was
developed and installed in more than 30
generation plants in northern Mexico,
through the services of QUAXAR MEXICO.
The SIMMER is a system developed in JAVA,
which uses Web technology to access information
stored in a database. Its success was
such that in 2003 CFE decided to implement
the system in all its generation plants,
beginning with those of highest capacity.
To execute
an implementation of such magnitude, various
functional, technical and practical courses
had to be given on a national level. Installation
took place in technologically diverse
and varied generating plants, with a number
of different communication architectures.
Among the benefits offered
by the SIMMER are:
-
The SIMMER improves
the performance of the previously
used technology and contributes considerably
to decision-making in the production,
planning and monitoring of electricity
generation.
-
The system allows
for monitoring of meters from any
access point to the CFE Intranet,
and allows for intelligent analysis
of information, through organized
exploitation of the database at different
managerial levels.
The City of Sunrise portal has received the 2004 prize for Excellence from the National Association of County Information Officers (NCIO).
The NCIO award recognizes applications and
technology solutions implemented by city and county
governments, or state entities, in the United States.

with the objective of improving local government services
through a functional and innovative government portal.
This prize was received in the Internet/Intranet category
for entities with less than 500,000 inhabitants. The
City was rated above 38 other public sector participants
