Leonel Azuela:
Young entrepreneur.
At 34 years of age Leonel Azuela is among
the wave of young and savvy professionals
and entrepreneurs arriving in Miami from
Mexico. Azuela´s firm, Quaxar, is
a full service IT company that specializes
in creating useful internet portals for
private industry and governments, that
go beyond a two-dimensional home-page.
For instance, the Quaxar
site designed for the City of Sunrise
allows citizen to pay local taxes, apply
for code variances and handle all their
municipal business without ever having
to go to City Hall. Additionally the company
is able to digitize large quantities of
data, a process of great demand in the
Latin America market. In fact, Azuela
says, he plans to grow the five-year-old
firm in Miami whit an eye to the Americas
and the Caribbean.
“There’s
a big growth in the Hispanic market for
online services,” Azuela, a Harvard
Business School grad says. “And
being in the U.S. keeps us on the cutting
edge.” He points out that during
the time Quaxar planted its roots in Miami,
the competition among upstart IT firms
has been growing. Still, with revenues
above $1millon, and steady doubling of
business each year, Azuela say the company
is in Miami to stay.
Hewlett-Packard
selects Quaxar to perform electronic message
delivery for Internal Communications in
Latin America.
On January 17th, 2005 Quaxar began performing
the delivery of electronic messages to
HP Latin America's Internal Communications
area.
The objective of this
program is to keep all of the HP Latin
America personnel informed with the relevant
employee information. QUAXAR, has also
worked to improve the performance of HP's
electronic message delivery system with
regard to higher quality and increased
speed.
QUAXAR, also supports
the HP Internal Communications area by
sending the internal monthly newsletter,
whose objective is to present an informative
summary on the activities which have taken
place during the previous month.
Finally, QUAXAR supports
the HP campaign operations by analyzing
employee interactions with the messaging
system. This is accomplishes through the
established
metrics which help to measure the impact
of the messages.
QUAXAR, since the conception
of this program, has sent over seventy
thousand emails, with the highest quality
and assertive information.
QUAXAR, was
hired by SIFIDE to install the COBIS MICROBANX
banking system.
SIFIDE is an institution that works for
the State Government satisfying the needs
of the financial area in San Luis Potosi.
They selected QUAXAR, to install the COBIS
portfolio management software during the
first semester of 2005.
Until now, SIFIDE has
based its operations on several systems
of credit and accounting. These systems
are not directly linked and are therefore
forced to make recaptures and unload information.
Thus, the operation is open to human error
and is not as efficent as possible. Because
of this SIFIDE has been evaluating platforms
to increase its' operating efficency
Finally, after many interviews,
SIFIDE has chosen QUAXAR-COBIS. They offer
a solution oriented in producing a strong
positive impact on SIFIDE´s short-term
institutional capacity, and at the same
time, making it easier for SIDIFE to build
up a strong base in order to achieve continuous
improvement for the future.
“Besides fulfilling all the requirements
stated on the request sheet, we are sure
that we are capable of building competitive
advantages for SIFIDE,” says Javier
Ballesteros, Quaxar´s General Manager
in Mexico.
COBIS manages many functions.
One of these functions is to allow all
the areas of the organization to share
a common database, therefore providing
the entire company with access to the
same information. This will allow SIFIDE´s
personnel to pay more attention to tasks
with greater importance and thus shorten
the cycle between the requesting and granting
of credit. It will also allow personnel
to obtain operative and managerial reports
without having any intermediaries. Finally,
the recaptures and interventions that
may have put information in jeopardy will
now be eliminated.
COBIS is a product of
Microbanx, ( www.microbanx.com),
an associate of QUAXAR's since 2004.
COBIS has more than 70 facilities in
