The visual elements of Branding Identity

Meet the five basic elements of the visual identity of your brand

Visual Identity is the symbolic embodiment of a brand by means of which his personality, culture and philosophy is transmitted. The visual elements in the Branding Identity always trying to position and build a good image in the minds of consumers, top of mind.

A brand is the set of tangible and intangible aspects that give a personality and identity to a company, product or service; the creation process, construction and identification of a brand is known to the term Branding. Inside all the graphical aspects of an identity of brand, we can list the 5 principal ones, which are:

1. Logotype

Any alphabetical configuration that is designed to identify by name an individual, product, service, publication or company. It is the graphical version of the name of the brand, which allows to transmit visually. There is often some confusion in what we used commonly called as logo, being really the only logo typeset version of the naming.

2. Isotype

A mark or symbol created for an individual, product, service, or company that translates the impression of the company it is representing. A term that is often confused with the concept of logo. The isotype is the most recognizable part of a trademark, is the iconic part, the image. The isotype is sometimes called the isotype with the icon name or symbol.

3. Typeface

There are two ways to implement the typography in the Visual Identity. the first is in the typographical arrangement of the logo. The second is the choice of the family (s) corporate font. It is recommended to choose no more than two different fonts, using usually one for chapter and texts that require more visual strength and one for body text in long essays; also changes, italics, light, bold, etc. may be used.

4. Color

The color gives brands the ability to represent different moods. The colors that are part of the visual identity should be chosen lead vocals that we give depending. In an appropriately titled study called Impact of Color in Marketing, researchers found that up to 90% of snap judgments made about products can be based on color alone (depending on the product).

5. Image

The photographs, illustrations and infographics we usually make to represent our brand will provide a specific personality to it. The nuances, vibrance, saturation or blur in photographs, also influence and generate a style about your branding, remember to be consistent with your brand voice and your images.

Much more of a visual identity has this distinctive and unique value, it soon becomes obvious and memorized. Finally, do not forget to collect all these aspects in a Visual Identity Manual, (Brand Guidelines Book), for safeguarding and proper the consistent use of your brand personality. A Identity Manual is a book containing guidelines for corporate identity applications. It is a corporate identity management tool. It is used to ensure correct application of the corporate identity following its implementation.

la Identidad Visual es la materialización simbólica de una marca, mediante ella se transmite su personalidad, cultura y filosofía.  Los elementos visuales en el Branding  siempre deben tratar de posicionar y construir una buena imagen en la mente de los consumidores, Top of Mind.

Una marca es el conjunto de aspectos tangibles e intangibles que otorgan una personalidad e identidad a un bien o servicio; al proceso de gestión, construcción e identificación de una marca se le conoce con el término anglosajón branding. La Identidad Visual parte del nombre y de la Identidad Global de la organización. Dentro de todos los aspectos gráficos de una identidad de marca, podemos enumerar los 5 principales, que son:

1. Logotipo

Cualquier configuración alfabética que esté diseñada para identificar el nombre de una persona, producto, servicio, publicación o empresa. Es la versión gráfica del nombre de la marca la cuál permite transmitirla visualmente. A menudo existe cierta confusión en lo que llamamos comúnmente como logo, siendo en realidad un logotipo la versión meramente tipográfica.

2. Isotipo

Una marca o símbolo creado para una persona, producto, servicio o empresa que traduce la impresión de la empresa que representa. Un término que se confunde a menudo con el concepto de logotipo. El isotipo es la parte más reconocible de una marca, es la parte más emblemática, la imagen. El isotipo es a veces llamado con el nombre de icono o símbolo.

3. Tipografía

Existen dos formas de aplicar la tipografía en la Identidad Visual. la primera de ellas es en el arreglo tipográfico del logotipo. La segunda es en la elección de la familia(s) tipográfica corporativa, se recomienda elegir no más de dos fuentes tipográficas distintas, usando por lo general una para capitulares y textos que requieran más fuerza visual y otra para los cuerpos de texto en redacciones largas.

4. Color

El color proporciona a las marcas la posibilidad de representar diferentes estados de ánimo. Los colores que son parte de la identidad visual se deben escoger coherentemente a la voz principal que le damos en función. En un estudio titulado apropiadamente “El impacto del color en Marketing”, los investigadores encontraron que hasta el 90% de los juicios rápidos realizados acerca de los productos se pueden basar sólo en el color.

5. Imagen

Las fotografías, ilustraciones, infografías, etc que solemos realizar para la representación de nuestra marca dotará de una personalidad especifica a la misma. Los matices, la viveza, la saturación o el desenfoque en las fotografías, también influyen en generar un estilo respecto a tu branding, recuerda ser coherente con tu voz de marca y tus imágenes.

Si una dentidad visual tiene un valor distintivo y único, pronto se hace evidente y memorable. Por último, no te olvides de recoger todos estos aspectos en un Manual de Identidad Visual, para la protección y el adecuado el uso constante de tu personalidad de marca. Un Manual de Identidad es un libro que contiene las directrices para aplicaciones de identidad corporativa. Se trata de una herramienta de gestión del branding. Se utiliza para garantizar la correcta aplicación de la identidad en todas sus manifestaciones físicas.
