In what should you focus for the rest of 2012?

by Lucia Zazueta

Half of the year has gone in a blink! Remember when everybody was talking about a new thing named Pinterest? When Fan Pages were about to have a Timeline look? What about Facebook preparing for the NYSE? Looks like a long time ago, huh! But let’s turn the page and take a look in what you need to focus in the second half, in terms of Digital Marketing to growth your business.

Facebook PPC:
Google was the best when talking about PPC. But now, the first place is shared with Facebook PPC capacity. In this social network you can be as pinpoint as you want in terms of segmentation. What do we mean by that? It means you can buy ads, but this ads will be adjusted to your budget and they will only get to the people you’re interested in.

  • For example: I want to sell my jewelry to women (gender) in Mexico (where) over 25 years old (age) that like fashion and hanging out with their friends (social behavior). How can this help my business? By only getting to your potential customers account. You won’t spend time and money reaching thousands of people that don’t belong to your segment.
    Give it a try!
  • Creating unique content:
Everybody is supersaturated with content. Yeah, I also nodded my head. People and companies try to reach their customers no matter what, no matter how. Let us tell you the only thing that will let you get there: create unique content.
If you want to stay in people’s mind, you need to give them content they find relevant and unique. Don’t get frustrated if not all the town loves you… only the ones that matter will, and that’s enough. You need to send messages related to your Brand promise, to what you do and you’re expert in. Always answer this question: What can I give them that will solve their ____ problem?
  • Pinterest:
This is a place where people and companies upload, share and repin their favorite stuff represented in pictures or videos. You’ll find cooking recipes, motivational messages, funny pictures, things to buy, and infinite stuff categories.
You might be wondering; how can this help your business? A LOT! If you are a B2C you might know what your audience likes, or post your store stuff directly (only if it’s gorgeous, eye catching, and worth it to clip or repin). If you’re a B2B, share the knowledge, do some info graphics, show interesting facts. There’s room for everyone here!
  • Real-time thinking:
There’s nothing better than having the answer to your questions in seconds. But can you really answer your companies as soon as possible in Digital Marketing? Bien sûr!
There exist tools you can use to provide your customers or audience a quick and real answer. If you have a community manager for your social networks, make sure they have all connected to their email in case someone tweets, posts, comments or sends a message directly asking questions. If you prefer having a Website you can add a Chat section and make sure the team in charge of it is answering every concern aligned to your brand promise.

Don’t be scared if once you apply these recommendations, new stuff will be on the Web asking for you to use it. This is the Web World! This is your time to belong to the 79% (2012) of Companies that believe and do Digital Marketing for their Brand.
